ST-40002 Israel in Prophecy and Politics introduces students to the theological identity of Israel across Scripture, history, and the contemporary world, using the "Trunk and Branches" hermeneutic drawn from Paul's olive tree image in Romans 11. The course traces Israel's covenant identity from the Old Testament through Second Temple Judaism, the apostolic writings, the early church, the medieval and Reformation periods, and into the modern debates surrounding the State of Israel, Christian Zionism, Palestinian Christian theology, and Jewish evangelism.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Biblical Foundations: The Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants, Israel's prophetic identity, and Second Temple Jewish expectation
  • Apostolic Synthesis: Jesus, Paul, and the olive tree theology of Romans 9-11
  • Historical Development: Supersessionism, the medieval and Reformation legacy, and the rise of Christian Zionism
  • Contemporary Debates: The modern State of Israel, political theology, Palestinian Christian voices, and Jewish missiology

This course integrates biblical, historical, and ministry application, equipping students to engage a theologically contested and politically charged subject with academic rigor and pastoral sensitivity.
