BI-10103 provides an overview of the Old Testament as the historical and theological foundation of God's redemptive plan. This course explores the Law (Pentateuch), Historical Books, Wisdom Literature, and Prophets, tracing God's covenantal relationship with His people from Genesis to Malachi. Students will examine key themes, including creation, covenant, prophecy, divine justice, wisdom, and the anticipation of the Messiah, highlighting how the Old Testament prepares the way for the New Testament’s fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

Contents of the Course:

  • The Pentateuch: Creation, covenant, and divine law in Genesis through Deuteronomy.
  • The Historical Books: Israel’s journey—conquest, monarchy, exile, and restoration.
  • Wisdom and Poetry: Worship, wisdom, and reflections on life in Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs.
  • The Major Prophets: Judgment, hope, and Messianic prophecy in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel.
  • The Minor Prophets: God’s justice and mercy in the Twelve Prophets (Hosea–Malachi).
  • Between the Testaments: The intertestamental period and its impact on the New Testament.
  • The Old Testament and the New Testament: Fulfillment of prophecy in Christ.
